Our Story
For many years, the Yangs had big aspirations to come to the United States to improve the lives of themselves and their family. Ms. Yang had dreams to own a small business,
sharing her family’s Chinese traditions and culture with people from all backgrounds. Working in a hospitality service sector in China, she worked tirelessly to provide money for
herself and her family. After getting married, Ms. Yang and her husband decided to begin a new chapter of their lives: starting a family of their own in the United States.
Coming to the United States was a challenge for Ms. Yang. She struggled learning the culture and language of her new home, but these obstacles did not stop her. Ms. Yang used the challenges
as motivation to achieve her goals. With support from her family and friends in the U.S., Ms. Yang saw a great opportunity when a restaurant was up for sale in a small strip mall in Madison Heights.
Fulfilling her promise, Ms. Yang bought the restaurant and kept the name “Chao Zhou” - inspired by the Chinese province in Guangdong.
Chao Zhou is not just a Chinese restaurant, it represents the hardworking people of Guangdong who strive to better themselves and their family, just like Ms. Yang.
Chao Zhou brings the authenticity of Chinese culture to Metro Detroit with the freshest ingredients from local Chinese markets. Those who come will have the real life experience of classic Chinese
cooking from the owners who made the impossible possible.
